Q: How do I find my Sleep Number® setting? A: Select Comfort has found that it may take several nights to adjust to a new sleep surface. Some customers report an improvement in their sleep after the first night on a Sleep Number bed. Studies show that pressure points decrease as firmness decreases. Many people think that a firmer sleep surface is better, however we find that many times our customers prefer a softer setting than expected. Q: How can I prevent my arm from "falling asleep" or tingling in the middle of the night? A: The physics of gravity play a role in how well you sleep at night. When you sleep, gravity and your body weight push you against the surface of your mattress. As soft tissue and muscles encounter a traditional metal-coil mattress, bodies give—but the mattress does not. This can create uncomfortable pressure points and uneven support over time. If you are a side sleeper, you may experience uncomfortable pressure points at your shoulder, arm, hips or side. Reduced blood circulation at those contact points with a firm mattress can give you a tingling or pins-and-needles feeling. Pressure points can affect the following:
Reduce pressure points with a high quality, innovative bed such as The Sleep Number® bed, which adjusts and conforms to you and your sleep position, providing more natural spinal alignment and fewer pressure points. |

Q: Can I use a heated mattress pad or electric blanket on The Sleep Number® bed? A: Heated mattress pads and electric blankets can both be used with your Sleep Number Bed by Select Comfort™. These accessories are a great way to further customize your sleep! Please note that the use of a heated product with the mattress will cause your Sleep Number® firmness setting to vary. These variations are completely normal and it does not mean your mattress is losing or gaining air. Rather, it reflects the varied pressure in the air chamber due to the temperature difference. |
