Q:  What are the dimensions of your beds?

Q:  How do I clean my Sleep Number® bed?

  1. We recommend spot cleaning your mattress cover with sparkling water and mild detergent. Please do not dry clean or machine wash/dry the mattress cover or base coverlet. Also, please do not apply stain-guard, as it may cause yellowing of the fabric.
  2. For allergy sufferers, an added benefit of owning a SLEEP NUMBER® mattress is the ability to unzip the mattress cover and vacuum the inside of the mattress to eliminate dust accumulation inside the mattress.

Q:  What if my Foam Comfort Pad(s) appear to be too small or irregularly shaped?

The foam for your bed has been vacuum sealed to ensure cleanliness during shipping. To ensure your foam is the correct size and shape, allow at least 20 minutes of expansion time. Gently shake the pad(s) before placing them in your mattress. The pad(s) will recover to full size overnight.

Q: Will my current sheets fit my Sleep Number® bed?

Most sheets sold today are commonly referred to as "deep pocket" sheets. Deep pocket sheets are designed for high profile mattresses and can be found at nearly all major department stores. If you own older sheets, which may not be the "deep pocket" style, you may wish to purchase sheet clips to hold your sheets in place. Our Bedding Collection features SmartFit® sheets, with exclusive design features to make it easier to make your bed, and for your sheets to stay in place. They include a fully elasticized edge, elastic corner seams, and anchor bands for a secure fit.

Q: Why is a Sleep Number® modular base highly recommended over a box spring?

Unlike a traditional box spring with metal coils and springs that tend to sag and break down over time, the Sleep Number® modular base provides consistent support beneath the entire mattress.

Q:  How big are the base legs and how much do they weigh?

Q:  What if I notice a rubber smell from the air chamber?

Any odor you may smell is non-toxic and will fade over time. To minimize the smell, allow the air chamber to air out before zipping on your cover. If the odor persists, try laying dryer sheets on top of the air chamber until the smell dissipates.

Q:  Will a Home Air Filtration System affect the chambers of a Sleep Number® bed?

Home air filtration systems that introduce ozone into the air can damage the rubber in the air chamber(s) of your SLEEP NUMBER® bed. If you need to use an air filtration system that introduces ozone into the air, we recommend that you place it as far away from your Sleep Number bed as possible. Home air filtration systems that do not introduce ozone into the air will not affect your Sleep Number bed.

Q:  How do I move my Sleep Number® bed?

Your SLEEP NUMBER® bed is lighter than any conventional bed, making it much easier to move. We suggest that you completely disassemble the mattress, base and frame when moving the bed. Here are some tips when packing your Sleep Number bed:

  • The cover and foam should all be double bagged to prevent stains.
  • The chambers should be deflated and boxed to prevent possible abrasions and other damage.
  • The Firmness Control™ System should be packed in a box and surrounded by some sort of packing material if the original box is not available.
  • The remote, closure caps, and instructions should be tucked in the box with the Firmness Control™ System to prevent them from being lost.
  • Although the base is very strong and durable, it can be bent or twisted during moving, which will cause damage. We recommend completely disassembling the base for moving.
  • Disassemble the frame and headboard, save all your hardware in a bag and tape it to one of the larger frame parts so they aren’t lost while moving.

If you are using a moving company we suggest that the mattress be moved assembled and in a mattress box.

  • The mattress can be fully inflated, capped off, and packaged in a mattress box for moving.
  • The Firmness Control™ System should be packed in a box, with packing material, and transported in a manner where it will be exposed to minimal shock and vibration.

If you need instructions for re-assembly of the bed, visit the Assembly section of our website or email Customer Service.

Q:  Do I need to store my mattress if it will not be in use for an extended period of time?

There are no special storage instructions for SLEEP NUMBER® beds that are in a seasonal home, RV, cabin, or beds not in use for an extended period of time. However, consider unplugging your Firmness Control™ System to prevent damage during electrical storms and power surges while you are away.

Q:  Do you sell the mattress only?

Yes, however, the contouring support of air works best when the air chambers rest on a solid, flat surface. The SLEEP NUMBER® modular base provides a solid, flat surface and is an ideal compliment to the SLEEP NUMBER® bed and will provide you with a better night's sleep.
