Title: Sr. Materials Manager
This position is responsible for all the planning functions at the manufacturing facility, including production planning, materials planning and inventory controls. This position leads the material/production planning and inventory control teams and assists the Director-Materials Management to continually improve and standardize the Materials Management function. This position is also responsible for improving, developing and implementing procedures, processes and measurements, systems support and maintenance. The Material Manager works to improve material flow within the manufacturing facility and manage suppliers, materials and inventory consistent with a lean manufacturing environment. This position is accountable for providing coaching and leadership for materials team.
Major Responsibilities Include:
- Leads the material, scheduling and inventory control processes at a plant level.
- Develops daily, weekly and monthly production plans. Focus on capacity planning and material requirements.
- Leads daily production planning meetings with manufacturing team managers, assess production and materials plans.
- Responsible for materials flow; planning, supplier execution to schedule, timely receipts.
- Leads the yearly physical inventory audits and the daily/weekly cycle count accuracy program.
- Establish guidelines and measurements of inventory and safety stock levels in support of corporate objectives, monitor inventory accuracy, supplier quality and delivery performance to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate new product launches to meet production schedules and minimize material obsolescence.
- Coordinate and monitor materials deviations, providing SCC personnel with input to a new process.
- Interface/coordinate with SCC personnel and production team managers to manage material changes, supplier initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
- Responsible for the overall maintenance, support and training of the application software used in manufacturing planning, receiving and inventory control processes.
- Leads new planning systems and processes projects at plant level.
Requirements:
- Ability to manage people, organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree is required. Additional related education is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years materials/production planning and inventory control experience in a repetitive manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 5 years management.
- ERP system knowledge is required - ORACLE is a plus.
- Knowledge of manufacturing inventory control practices.
- Knowledge of MRP and various replenishment practices/systems.
- Knowledge of MRP and various replenishment practices/systems.
- Knowledge of standard commercial procurement procedures and practices. Microsoft Excel savvy.
