- Volunteer Support
Select Comfort employees play an integral role of each bed donation to Ronald McDonald Houses. Local employees assist with the delivery and set-up of Sleep Number beds and also visit their local house on a regular basis to deliver bedding accessory donations. Many employees also volunteer at their local Ronald McDonald House beyond product donations, to help impact their local community and live out the company's mission of improving people's lives.

The Charity
The first Ronald McDonald House was created through the leadership of Fred Hill, a former Philadelphia Eagles player, and his wife Fran, who grew tired of sleeping on hospital furniture while their young daughter received leukemia treatments. Each House is run by a local nonprofit organization comprised of members of the medical community, business and civic leaders, parents/volunteers and McDonald's owners/operators.
Families staying at Ronald McDonald House are asked to make a donation ranging from $5 to $20 per day; if that is not possible, their stay is free. The average stay is approximately eighteen days and, since 1974, the program has helped more than 10 million family members nationally.
Ronald McDonald House is the cornerstone program of Ronald McDonald House Charities®, a nonprofit, 501(c)(3). The Charity creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children worldwide through its global network of local chapters.
